Valve Seals for an Oil-Tight and Reliable Engine
Valve seals, also known as valve stem seals, prevent engine oil from leaking past the valves into the combustion chamber. They ensure controlled lubrication of the valve guides and keep the motorcycle clean and efficient. Worn valve seals lead to oil consumption, smoke, and power loss.
When to Replace Valve Seals?
Blue smoke when starting or after idling is a clear sign of leaking valve seals. High oil consumption without visible leaks often indicates this as well. Timely replacement prevents spark plug fouling and protects the motorcycle from internal deposits.
Function and Material
Valve seals are made of heat-resistant rubber or Viton, designed to withstand high temperatures and oil pressure. Due to age or heat, the material hardens, making the seal less effective. New seals ensure optimal oil sealing and reliable compression again.
Installation Tips
Always replace valve seals as a set and use the correct tools during installation to prevent damage to the sealing lip. Check the valve guides for wear and install the seals lightly greased with clean engine oil.
Find the Right Valve Seals for Your Motorcycle
Use the motorcycle selector to quickly find the correct valve seals for your make, model, and year of manufacture. This way, you can be sure that the seal fits perfectly and your motorcycle runs cleanly, economically, and reliably again.
