Fuel Filters for a Clean and Reliable Fuel Supply
The fuel filter protects the motorcycle from dirt and contaminants in the fuel. It prevents dust, rust, or water particles from reaching the injectors or carburetor. A clean fuel filter ensures a constant fuel supply and prevents malfunctions or power loss.
When to Replace the Fuel Filter?
Over time, the filter becomes clogged due to dirt accumulation. You'll notice this by difficulty starting, sputtering during acceleration, or an irregular engine running. Replace the filter according to the maintenance schedule or sooner if the motorcycle has been stored for a long time or if old fuel has been used.
Types of Fuel Filters
Depending on the motorcycle and fuel system, there are different types:
- Inline filters: transparent filters placed between the fuel hose, commonly used with carburetors.
- In-tank filters: integrated into the fuel pump, often found in fuel-injected engines.
- Replaceable cartridges: in some systems, these can be changed separately without replacing the entire housing.
Installation Tips
Pay attention to the arrow indicating the fuel flow direction during installation. Check the hoses for cracks and use new hose clamps for a secure seal. Start the motorcycle after installation and check for any leaks.
Easily Find the Right Fuel Filter
Use the motorcycle selector to quickly find the correct fuel filter for your make, model, and year. This ensures a proper fit and a reliable fuel supply for a smoothly running engine.
