Crankshaft Bearings for a Smooth and Reliable Running Engine

Crankshaft bearings form the foundation of your engine's rotating assembly. They support the crankshaft and ensure stable, low-friction rotation. Wear on these bearings can cause serious engine damage, making timely replacement or overhaul crucial for the longevity of your engine block.

When to Replace Crankshaft Bearings?

A ticking sound from the engine block, dropping oil pressure, or metal particles in the oil are clear signs of worn bearings. Replacement is also unavoidable during a complete engine overhaul or after an engine seizure. New bearings restore proper fit and reduce vibrations and wear.

Types of Crankshaft Bearings

Depending on the engine type, there are different designs:

  • Plain Bearings: widely used in four-stroke engines, providing constant oil lubrication and damping.
  • Roller Bearings or Needle Bearings: often used in two-stroke engines, capable of withstanding high RPMs.
  • Main Bearing and Connecting Rod Bearing Sets: complete sets for overhaul, matched to the crankshaft's size code.

Installation Tips

Always install bearings according to the manufacturer's specifications. Check the oil pressure channels and use sufficient assembly oil during installation. Ensure the correct tightening torque for the bearing shells and allow the motorcycle to break in gently after installation for a long service life.

Find the Right Crankshaft Bearings

Use the motorcycle selector to easily find the correct crankshaft bearings for your make, model, and year. This ensures that the sizing, fit, and quality perfectly match your motorcycle.
