Motorcycle Spark Plugs for Optimal Combustion and Smooth Engine Running
The spark plug is a small but crucial part of the engine. It ignites the fuel-air mixture, directly determining performance, fuel consumption, and starting behavior. A worn spark plug can lead to poor ignition, irregular idling, or loss of power.
Which Spark Plug Fits Your Motorcycle?
Every motorcycle has specific requirements for heat range, thread, and electrode gap. Therefore, always use the correct spark plug according to the manufacturer's specifications. There are different types:
- Standard Nickel Spark Plugs: reliable and affordable, suitable for everyday use.
- Iridium and Platinum Spark Plugs: provide a stronger spark, last longer, and ensure cleaner combustion.
When to Replace Spark Plugs?
For most motorcycles, replacement is recommended every 12,000 to 20,000 km, or sooner if starting is difficult or the engine runs irregularly. Regularly check for fouling, burnt electrodes, or an unusual color of the spark plug tip - this reveals a lot about the engine's combustion condition.
Installation Tips
Always install spark plugs with the correct torque and use a little copper grease on the threads if recommended. Check the electrode gap and use a torque wrench to prevent damage to the cylinder head.
Find the Right Spark Plug for Your Motorcycle
Use the motorcycle selector to quickly find the correct spark plug for your make, model, and year of manufacture. This ensures you have the right specifications and optimal performance on every ride.
