Relays and Switches for Reliable Electrical Control

Relays and switches form the core of your motorcycle's electrical system. They control important functions such as lighting, starter motor, horn, and ignition. A well-functioning relay or switch ensures a safe, reliable, and quick response with every action.

When to Replace Relays or Switches?

Malfunctions in lighting, starting problems, or failing functions often indicate wear or oxidation in relays or switches. Due to vibrations and moisture, contacts can wear out or corrode over time. Replacement restores reliability and prevents electrical interruptions while riding.

Types of Relays and Switches

Depending on the system, there are different versions:

  • Starter Relay: switches the high current to the starter motor.
  • Turn Signal and Light Relays: regulate the correct timing and power supply.
  • Brake Light and Clutch Switches: activate lighting and safety systems.
  • Universal Switches: useful for custom or older motorcycles.

Installation and Maintenance

When replacing, always check the connection and amperage of the relay or switch. Clean the contacts with contact cleaner and use some dielectric grease against corrosion. Ensure cables are securely fastened and cannot allow moisture or dirt to penetrate.
