Speedometer Cables for Accurate Speed and Distance Measurement
The speedometer cable transmits motion from the front wheel or gearbox to the speedometer. A well-functioning cable guarantees reliable speed and mileage indication, essential for safe riding and accurate odometer readings.
When to Replace the Speedometer Cable?
Vibrating, seized, or stopped speedometers are often caused by the cable. Audible ticking or irregular readings also indicate wear or breakage. A new cable prevents the speedometer from showing incorrect values or failing completely while riding.
Types of Speedometer Cables
There are different versions, depending on the make and year of manufacture:
- Original Replacement Cables: with exact length and connections, directly fitting your motorcycle.
- Universal Cables: suitable for older or custom motorcycles where original parts are no longer available.
Installation Tips
Install the new cable without sharp bends or kinks. Lightly lubricate the inner cable with grease suitable for high speeds. During installation, also check the connection at the speedometer and drive for wear or dirt.
Find the Right Speedometer Cable
Use the motorcycle selector to quickly find the correct speedometer cable for your make, model, and year of manufacture. This ensures you have the right length, connection, and accurate operation of the speedometer.
