Altenators for a stable power supply and a well-charged battery
The dynamo, also called an alternator, supplies your motorcycle with power while riding. It delivers energy to lighting, ignition, and accessories, while simultaneously charging the battery. A well-functioning dynamo is therefore indispensable for a reliable electrical system.
When to replace the dynamo?
Signs of a defective dynamo include a rapidly draining battery, dimming lights, or warning lights on the dashboard. Irregular voltage or ticking noises from the engine block can also indicate wear on the coils or bearings. Replacement prevents damage to the voltage regulator or battery.
Types of dynamos
Motorcycles use different dynamo types, depending on the year of manufacture and model:
- Stator dynamos: the most common variant, with stationary coils and a rotating magnet.
- Rotor dynamos: often used on older or heavier motorcycles, they provide stable voltage at lower RPMs.
- Complete dynamo kits: including rotor, stator, and gasket for complete replacement in case of wear or fire damage.
Installation tips
When installing, check that the new dynamo exactly matches the original part. Use a new gasket when mounting the stator and pay attention to the correct rotation direction of the rotor. After installation, it is advisable to measure the charging voltage to confirm correct operation.
Find the right dynamo for your motorcycle
Use the motorcycle selector to directly find the right dynamo for your make, model, and year of manufacture. This ensures a perfect fit, correct voltage, and long-lasting reliability of the charging system.
