Brake Discs for Maximum Braking Power and Control
Brake discs are a crucial part of your motorcycle's braking system. They provide the friction needed to reduce speed, in conjunction with the brake pads. A good brake disc offers not only strong braking power but also stability and feel with every braking action.
Different Types of Brake Discs
Brake discs are available in various designs, each with its own characteristics:
- Solid Discs: simple, durable design. Suitable for relaxed or daily use.
- Perforated or Wave Discs: better cooling and less weight. Ideal for sporty riding or heavy loads.
- Floating Discs: equipped with a floating inner ring for optimal heat dissipation and less distortion during intensive use.
When to Replace Brake Discs?
Regularly check your brake discs for wear, grooves, or distortion. If you experience vibration during braking or a noticeable lip on the outer edge, replacement is recommended. A disc that is too thin reduces braking power and can be dangerous, so check the minimum thickness according to your motorcycle's specifications.
Installation and Maintenance
Always install new brake discs together with new brake pads for the best bedding-in and even wear. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the correct tension and thoroughly clean the surface before installation. Avoid contact with grease or oil on the braking surface.
The Right Brake Disc for Your Motorcycle
Use the motorcycle selector to directly find the correct brake discs for your make, model, and year of manufacture. This ensures a perfect fit, optimal performance, and maximum safety on every ride.
