With 294 Moto-GP victories, Aprilia is the manufacturer with the most victories in the history of the motorcycle championship. Aprilia started producing motorcycles in the late 1960s and in 1970 Aprilia produced a 50cc dirt bike that would grow to a 125 cc until it built its first competition motorcycle in the mid-1970s. After Aprilia's debut in motocross in 1975, Aprilia makes its debut in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championship in a challenge from the Japanese considered unbeatable in the extremely competitive 250 cc class. In 1988, Aprilia debuted in the 125 cc class and immediately took its first podium in the eighth liter category in the French GP.

Aprilia became part of the Piaggio group in 2004. With the reorganization of the Noale Racing division, the group broadened the horizons of its racing activities, from the return to off-road competitions to the world superbike debut in 2009 of the Aprilia RSV4. This highly successful project secured seven world titles from 2010 to 2014.
